Selecting the perfect venue for your dream wedding is both an exciting and special experience, and finding that perfect balance between your style and your checkbook can be difficult. We have come up with a list of things that many new brides and grooms sometimes forget to consider when selecting a venue. Keep these in mind when planning your perfect day.
Think of the space. Whether your guest list is 100 or 1,000 people, do not forget to factor in tables, chairs, the DJ or band, the buffet or bar, a dance floor, etc. The last thing you want is for guests to be cramped in a small confined space. On the other hand bigger is not always better. You also do not want everything so spread out that you can not adequately fill the space. That may require renting a bigger or smaller space or even tailoring your guest list.
Sound is another thing to consider. Whether you are having your wedding at a public park or a small hotel/ estate, noise should be at the top of your list of things to take into consideration. If you choose to have your venue in a public location, remember to listen for outside noises such as traffic passing by or even construction going on in the area. If your venue is more private such as in a hotel, consider things like noise from other parties and outside hotel guests. Try to go to your venue more than once at the time of day you are planning your wedding. This will allow you to really get a feel for how the noise level will be during your ceremony.
Lighting is one of those details people often fail to take into account when selecting a venue. In choosing between a darker, more intimate setting, or a bright, joyful one, lighting should be an important detail. This may also help you decide whether you want your venue indoors or outdoors. Make sure you know exactly how the lighting will be at the time of day your venue is. If it is not perfect, you can make arrangements ahead of time to adjust the lighting to how you want it.
Parking can be a nightmare, especially if your venue is in a high traffic area. Having your guests all arriving at different times during the middle of the venue is preventable. Even if the area does have a lot of traffic, try to arrange a bus or a limo to help transport guests.
It is the small details of the venue that help create the overall ambiance. Things such as space, sound, lighting and parking may easily slip our minds when dealing with all of the other aspects that go into planning a perfect day. Hopefully these tips point you in the right direction, and give your event that extra touch.
